ITM INDUSTRY EUROPE fair in Poznan (PL) accelerates to 2026

An interview with the new director of ITM INDUSTRY EUROPE, Miłosz Jankowiak, is a conversation about the strategic redefinition of the exhibition space, the use of many years of experience in project management and enthusiasm for innovations that shape the future of Polish and international industry. The upcoming edition of the fair (26-29 May 2026) is intended to be a platform connecting people, ideas and facilitating business.

You joined the ITM INDUSTRY EUROPE team as a new face, but within Grupa MTP you are a well-known figure for organizing projects of enormous scale and success, such as Polagra, Poznań Game Arena and Caravans Salon. How will this many years of experience, successfully managed, translate into industrial fairs?

Miłosz Jankowiak: It is a great honor for me to join the ITM trade fair, which has been organized by Poznań International Fair for decades. Referring to the 'gamer' jargon that is familiar to me, I can say about the previous editions of ITM: 'Good game, well played.' However, I believe that every well-played game can be even better! My many years of experience in managing the largest events at MTP Poznan Expo, such as Polagra and Poznań Game Arena, have taught me that the success of trade fairs is driven by people – open, willing to cooperate and ready to work together. I join with renewed energy and a fresh perspective to support the team. This is a time for inspiring conversations with leaders and listening to the needs of the industry. We, as Organisers, try to do what we do best: connect people, their ideas and facilitate business.

We know that after last year's edition, the team collected valuable surveys from participants. One of the challenges, despite its unquestionable advantage, turned out to be the vast area of MTP Poznań Expo. How do you plan to address this in the 2026 edition to be even closer to exhibitors?

- That's true. The extensive area allows for flexible space arrangement for several hundred exhibitors, but may be a difficulty for visitors who want to see their stands in a short time. Therefore, to be closer to the innovative heart of the industry, we plan to locate the majority of the ITM exhibition in a so-called four-pack. These are the most modern of four exhibition halls, whose spaces will perfectly complement the innovative nature of the fair. This will ensure proximity to halls 5 and 5A, and a little further on, in halls 3, the MODERNLOG logistics fair will be held. Adapting to changing market and technological conditions is key for both sectors. ITM is a place where, in a nutshell, for 4 days, you can see modern solutions live and, most importantly, make strategic purchasing decisions that optimize, among other things, production processes.

ITM INDUSTRY EUROPE is a comprehensive event. Please tell us which thematic exhibitions will constitute the main pillars of this innovative exhibition in 2026?

- ITM INDUSTRY EUROPE 2026 is a four-pronged innovation that will fully demonstrate the transformation of the industry. We have AUTOMA – the Automation, Robotics and Pneumatics Exhibition, where we will present the automation of production processes, industrial robots, cobots, modern control systems and the latest achievements in pneumatics. Then there is MACH-TOOL – Machine Tools and Tools Exhibition, the heart of machining, showcasing machining centers, milling machines, lathes, CNC grinders, as well as sheet metal processing technologies, including laser systems and press brakes, with plenty of live machine demonstrations showing precision. The third pillar is SURFEX – the Surface Treatment Technology Exhibition, focusing on painting, protective coatings, galvanisation and thermo-chemical treatment that minimizes environmental impact, of course along with live demonstrations of surface treatment and painting. Finally, we have WELDING – Welding Innovation Exhibition, where the focus will be on robotic welding stations – automatic systems for joining materials, and on safety systems that improve the safety of these processes.

What about the accompanying program and returning exhibitors?

We are very pleased that exhibitors place orders for their stands several months before the fair, which allows us to precisely plan the space. We will also take care of proven and frequently visited thematic zones whose partners have already confirmed their presence. Schmalz will take care of the Collaborative Robot Zone, and Troax will take care of the Industrial Safety Zone. The Demobus Zone will also return, although I won't reveal the details of the new arrangement just yet. Our regular exhibitor PNEUMAT is already planning a space for pneumatic games and competitions for maintenance managers. We are also continuing one of the pillars of the program – the Women Factories of the Future conference, organized with DBR 77 and B2B marketing expert Agnieszka Wnuk. It was at her urging that, even though the fair was still a few months away, in October this year our spaces hosted participants of the pioneering LinkedIn Local for Industry conference. The event exceeded our expectations and we plan to repeat it during the fair. This only reinforces our belief that the success of any conference or trade fair is due to people, their creativity and passion.

Although there is much talk of a slowdown in the industry, based on analyzes by the Central Statistical Office, forecasts for 2026 indicate an improvement in the situation in the industry... Are companies ready to invest? And can the ITM trade fair make it easier?

- People who follow industry trends will certainly not leave Poznań disappointed! Referring to the analyzes of the Central Statistical Office, forecasts for 2026 indicate an improvement in the situation in the industry. Companies that effectively implement innovations, optimize processes, and respond to new customer expectations will strengthen their competitive position.

Progressive digitalisation will be extremely important – the development of AI solutions, edge computing and MES/SCADA systems will support the modernization of the machinery park. In addition, the green transformation is crucial, i.e. the emphasis on energy efficiency and the Circular Economy (CE), which will force design changes in machines and devices. Finally, we expect exports to increase, as the growing competitiveness of Polish producers should result in a greater presence on foreign markets. ITM INDUSTRY EUROPE 2026 will be a living showcase of these innovations.

Polish SMEs now have a real chance to lead the digital revolution. New programs supporting development have emerged, such as Dig.IT Digital Transformation, a project aimed at micro, small and medium-sized industrial enterprises and production services.

The budget is as much as PLN 140 million, and companies can apply for grants from PLN 150,000 to PLN 850,000, covering up to 50% of eligible costs. This means that half of the expenses for ERP systems, production software or data analysis tools can be financed from external funds, and the ITM trade fair will be the perfect place to find and select these technologies. The call for applications ended in October, but the next one is planned for June 2026. There are also support programs under European Funds for selected voivodeships, such as for innovative business investments, especially in the field of automation and robotisation for Western Pomerania.

The introduction to these innovations will begin here in Poznań.

We are ready to facilitate business and inspire the industry to take the next strategic step forward!

Amb preview: amb 2026's key events unveiled

New formats enrich the program. AMB provides new impetus to the entire metal cutting industry. As part of the AMB Preview, Messe Stuttgart presented a preview of AMB 2026, outlining the key events of the international metalworking trade fair. AMB will be held from September 15 to 19, 2026, at Messe Stuttgart's exhibition center. Industry interest remains high: approximately 1,150 exhibitors have already confirmed their participation, and the event spans all 10 halls. Approximately 31% of exhibiting companies come from abroad, and a total of 34 countries will be represented. The extensive supporting program includes over 107 events, with approximately 50 speakers. AMB: an unmissable event in the industry calendar for 2026 "The decision to participate in a trade fair as an exhibitor is no small feat. It requires investment, significant commitment, and represents a deliberate strategic choice. The fact that so many companies have chosen to participate is a clear demonstration of the trust placed in AMB. For over 40 years, AMB has been one of the leading international meeting points for the metal cutting industry, and for good reason: it's the place where the industry wants to meet," says Roland Bleinroth, Managing Director of Messe Stuttgart. With 120,000 m² of exhibition space, AMB represents the entire metal cutting process chain. New appointments in the 2026 program: the Defense sector and cooperation with BW_i for the development of international trade relations For the first time, AMB is offering the "Defence & Security Opportunities" format, a platform dedicated to a growing topic. In collaboration with VDMA, Messe Stuttgart is creating a targeted framework to address a crucial question: how can the metal cutting industry contribute to the rapid and reliable expansion of defense production capacities, from individual component production to series production? The format connects defense OEMs and their suppliers directly with AMB exhibitors. Participating companies will present scalable production solutions through introductory talks, followed by two guided tours of selected exhibition halls. The "Defence & Security Opportunities" format will take place on Wednesday, September 16th and Friday, September 18th in a private setting. Participation is subject to prior registration, and spaces are limited. Another new initiative is the collaboration with BW_i – Baden-Württemberg International for the "International Gallery powered by BW_i" initiative. Ten international trade associations will be present at the East Entrance in front of Hall 1. These include organizations from India (VDMA India), Italy (Italcam), Taiwan (TMBA and TAMI), and Spain (AFM). At country-specific Happy Hours, national and international guests will have the opportunity to network and network in an informal atmosphere, exploring the opportunities offered by their respective markets. BW_i will also contribute its own event, underscoring the international character of AMB. The BW_i Happy Hour will be held on Thursday, September 17, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and will include a presentation on Baden-Württemberg as a business and industrial location. Roadshow and AMB Night strengthen dialogue within the sector With the AMB Roadshow, AMB 2026 is bringing its slogan "Where metal comes alive" directly to companies even before the event begins. Over the summer, the project team visited more than ten locations in the region, meeting turners, millers, and machining operators face-to-face and engaging with industry professionals. During AMB, the Roadshow van will be present at the exhibition grounds, offering visitors an additional meeting and exchange point. Another new feature of the 2026 program is the AMB Night, scheduled for Friday afternoon. This initiative is aimed specifically at specialized operators who, after finishing their workday, want to experience the latest innovations and trends in metal-cutting machining firsthand. A special discounted ticket will grant access to both the trade fair and the subsequent AMB Night, during which industry content creators will also be present for a Meet & Greet session with the public. AMB 2026: a program designed for the entire metal cutting industry AMB 2026 offers a rich supporting program, designed to meet the needs and diverse perspectives of the entire industry. "Where metal comes alive" is precisely the concept embodied at AMB, where the entire metal cutting value chain comes together, representing the full diversity and richness of the sector. The VDMA Technology Forum, in Hall 1, will offer practical technical presentations on topics such as the circular economy and cost-effective production. The AMB Stage will feature a different central theme each day: Tuesday will be dedicated to the aerospace sector, while Friday will focus on maintenance. Other events on the agenda: from innovation to young talents The Start-up Area, located at the East Entrance, will offer an overview of the latest ideas, technologies, and innovative solutions, while the AMB Award will recognize the most significant innovations and technological developments presented at the fair. The special training show, organized by the Nachwuchsstiftung Maschinenbau and set up in the East Entrance atrium, will make technology a tangible experience: visitors will be able to experience CNC, automation, and digital manufacturing applications firsthand. The Business Breakfast, held in the Region Stuttgart Lounge, will focus on robotics on Wednesday, while on Thursday it will focus on quantum technologies and sensors. The "India Opportunities" seminar is specifically designed for companies interested in developing opportunities in the Indian market. The "Art Meets Technology" competition will also return in 2026, adopting the new slogan "Where Metal Comes Alive" for this edition. The three key themes of AMB – automation, artificial intelligence, and the circular economy – form the common thread running through the entire program and are reflected in the solutions presented by exhibiting companies. About AMB Since 1982, the AMB has presented highlights of the international metalworking industry. "Where Metal Comes Alive" will also be a regular event on the industry agenda in 2026, this year from September 15 to 19. It is the international marketplace and meeting place for metalworking, where the latest products, technologies, innovations, services, and concepts are presented in all their facets. The AMB is supported by the sponsors VDMA Precision Tools, VDMA Software and Digitalization, and VDW Verein Deutscher Werkzeugmaschinenfabriken eV. Ucimu: orders index for the second quarter of 2026 still down (-25.8%); foreign orders (-15.3%); dom

Riccardo Rosa, president of UCIMU: "We'll have to wait until the next few months to see the full effects of the hyper-depreciation, but we're very confident this measure will last until September 2028." In the second quarter of 2026, the machine tool orders index compiled by the UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE Study & Business Culture Centre recorded a decline of -25.8% compared to the April-June 2025 period . In absolute value, the index stood at 47.8 (base 100 in 2021). The result expresses the difficulties that Italian machine tool manufacturers have encountered both on the domestic and foreign markets. In particular, orders collected from abroad decreased by -15.3% compared to the second quarter of 2025, for an absolute value of 63.2. Order intake in Italy also declined , falling 38.7% compared to the same period of the previous year. The absolute value of the index stood at 33.1. Riccardo Rosa, president of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, stated: “The uncertainty of the geopolitical context—shaken by wars, the Hormuz crisis, and the decidedly worrying attitude of the President of the United States toward international politics—has profoundly undermined the already precarious balance in which the industry found itself operating.” "The decline in international deliveries, given the current situation, is understandable, and we expected it. Business has slowed, but, as is our custom, we've tried to focus our offerings on those areas less directly affected by conflicts and critical issues, diversifying our product offerings wherever possible." "It is certain ," continued President Riccardo Rosa , " that the investment figures and values once ensured by the automotive industry cannot be replaced by the demand expressed by other sectors, however dynamic, such as defense, aerospace, and energy. For this reason, once again, we ask our representatives in Europe to reconsider their decision and adopt the principle of technological neutrality when defining automotive development plans. This approach would allow the industry, and its entire supply chain, to properly manage the ongoing transition, not only respecting the environment but also safeguarding, where possible, employment." Domestically, businesses awaited clarifications on the hyper-depreciation program to confirm their purchasing intentions. Since June 12th, the day all the operational steps were completed, the hyper-depreciation program has been bearing fruit. We immediately noticed a change in attitude among Italian users: orders are starting to arrive. "We'll have to wait a few more months, however, for the effect to be fully reflected in our data, but we're definitely confident. This is also because, in the meantime, we have data from the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, which, as of July 9th, reported the submission of 7,000 communications on the GSE platform, worth €2.5 billion." MIMIT deserves great credit for having established a multi-year term for this incentive. Its effectiveness until September 2028 should ensure thoughtful planning of investments in new machine tools and production technologies by Italian customers, also allowing us manufacturers to plan our production activities over the medium term. "The hope ," concluded Riccardo Rosa , " is to soon see the Italian market return to the levels it experienced in 2021-2022, when it was worth over €6 billion. This is also because our manufacturing industry needs to innovate to remain competitive in an international context where digital and AI are completely reshaping the rules of the game."
